GRANDPRIX Group Acquires World Of Showjumping, A Leading International Showjumping Media Outlet

GRANDPRIX, a specialist in the equestrian industry, today announces the acquisition of World of Showjumping. Founded in 2010, World of Showjumping has established itself as one of the most widely followed media outlets in international showjumping.

This transaction represents a further milestone in the international expansion of GRANDPRIX Group, one year after the acquisition of The Chronicle of the Horse in the United States. With World of Showjumping, the group now reaches a global English-speaking audience and will further pursue its mission of bringing together a global community of enthusiasts, professionals, and advertisers around its media platforms.

From A Sketch On A Piece Of Paper To A Global Audience

Jenny Abrahamsson, Jannicke Naustdal and Hanne Christensen Borch-Nielsen first met at the FEI European Championships at Windsor in 2009. Shortly after, the trio came up with the idea to create World of Showjumping. The first sketch of the site was drawn on a piece of paper in the summer of 2010, and the platform went online at the beginning of 2011. In 2016, Nanna Nieminen joined the editorial team part-time and as of 2022 full-time. Fifteen years on, the outlet delivers:
- More than 5 million page views per year on worldofshowjumping.com, and an average engagement time of 2 minutes 46 seconds per session;
- Readers in more than 217 countries, led by the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ireland;
- A committed and organic digital community, with close to 270,000 social media followers.

World of Showjumping has covered the sport’s major occasions since its earliest days, from the London Olympics in 2012 to Paris in 2024, alongside every European Championship and World Championship, as well as the majority of the World Cup Finals. Recognized for its in-depth interviews with the world’s leading riders, exclusive photography, and a willingness to give space to different stakeholder voices in the debates running through the sport, the outlet embodies editorial rigor and enjoys significant influence within the international showjumping community.

“World of Showjumping has been built patiently on the quality of its editorial work alone, and it is followed today by the world’s best riders and by enthusiasts alike. This is exactly the kind of media outlet whose development we want to support. Following The Chronicle of the Horse in the United States, this acquisition allows us to cover international showjumping with a global English-language voice, and to better serve our advertising partners seeking a consistent presence across all the major equestrian markets,” said Vincent Goehrs, President of GRANDPRIX Group.

“Over the years, World of Showjumping has not only grown into one of the sport’s leading media outlets – it has also become a huge part of our daily lives. We are incredibly grateful for all the memories our team has made together, and for all the experience and knowledge we have gained along the way,” said Jannicke Naustdal and Jenny Abrahamsson, co-founders of World of Showjumping. “We are especially thankful to Nanna, who has played a vital part in shaping World of Showjumping into what it is today.” “Furthermore, we are grateful for the trust that has been placed in us by the sport’s stakeholders, and for the opportunities we have been given to tell so many remarkable stories. It has truly been an unforgettable adventure, which of course would not have been possible without our loyal readers.”

“The online media landscape has changed significantly since we started the website. Over the past couple of years, we have increasingly recognized the need for additional resources to ensure that the website can continue to develop, evolve, and grow. We believe this acquisition will provide World of Showjumping with what it needs to reach its full potential, while simultaneously safeguarding the values that have always been at the heart of the website,” said Naustdal and Abrahamsson.

A New Chapter For International Showjumping Media

The editorial line of World of Showjumping remains unchanged. Nanna Nieminen continues her editorial work and joins the team led by Sébastien Roullier Varlamov, International Editorial Director. The outlet keeps its identity, its publishing rhythm, and its editorial standards.

GRANDPRIX will bring its editorial and technological expertise to the outlet: enhanced international coverage of major equestrian competitions, expanded editorial resources across the group, and a wider offer for advertisers.

With this acquisition, the group’s media division now covers French-speaking Europe with GRANDPRIX.info and Studforlife.com, the United States with The Chronicle of the Horse, Flanders and The Netherlands with Horseman.nl, and international showjumping with World of Showjumping.
